12/23/12 - SPRINGFIELD, MO (updated 1/10/13) - With Christmas approaching I thought about giving the best gift I could give at this moment and share some stats and records achieved by the 2012-2013 Missouri State Ice Bears Hockey team.

So, I've made a list and checked it...four or five times....

This year's Ice Bears team is currently 17-5 and have started the first half of the season with the best record in Missouri State Hockey history.

The 2007-2008 team went 14-5 and previously held the record.  That season they had an 11 game winning streak, won all 14 regular season games in MACHA and won the MACHA championships, 3-2 over Mizzou.

Missouri State currently has 20 short-handed goals a Missouri State Hockey record. The team record was 17 in 2006-2007.

Two short-handed goals on the same penalty kill has happened 3 times this season, is an Ice Bear team record, and happened twice in two consecutive games which is also a team record.

Jack Ryan has a 11 game goal scoring streak and leads the team with 30 goals and 17 assists for 47 points. He also has 9 shorthanded goals, leading the team. Ryan is also the all-time leader in goal scoring in a season.

Blake Ryan has 20 assists and is 14 behind C. J. Jung who had 34 assists in 2009-2010 and currently the all-time assists leader.

Clayton Baker is second with 31 assists in 2006-2007 and Danny Bethmann (30) in 2007-2008 is third.

Missouri State has scored more short handed goals (20) than given up power play goals (15).

The best season on the power play was 09-10 (24.4%). In 2012-2013 the Ice Bears have not fallen below 24.4% this season and currently are at 33.0%.

Missouri State goaltenders (Steve Lombardo game #1, Justin Davis game #2) started the 2012-2013 season going 134:58 without giving up a goal until Davis let one in at 14:58 of the first period against Lindenwood.

An Ice Bears goaltending team record was set in the 08/09 season by goaltenders Mike Poepping and Nic Zamora putting together a 203:32 shutout streak in a four game span from November 7-15, 2008.

Lombardo (2.28) and Davis (1.83) are among the lowest GGA in the league for goaltenders.

Andy Draper is second in scoring with 17 goals and Blake Ryan is third with 16, and second in power play goals (5) and second with game winning goals (2). Draper is first with 3.

Eric Aldag has 2 goals and is one away from his season high of 3 (2011-2012).

Ryan scored his 2nd goal of the season on 12/08/12.  He could have had 3 goals but they were all tipped in. His best goal scoring seasons were 09-10 and 10-11 with 3 goals, and point season was 09-10 with 3 goals and 12 assists.

This list is not finished, just an early Christmas gift....more to come!
