Generals End 2006 Season On Winning Note

07/22/06 - PARKVILLE, MO. - The final game of the two month season was a win for the Ozark Generals in Parkville, Missouri. Part of a double header, the Generals bounced back from a 6-1 loss in the first game to beat the Blue Springs Grays 5-3 in game two.

Lucas Vestal (Missouri Southern) takes the loss in game one and Justin Skinner (Crowder College) is the winner in the second game.

The win gives Ozark a 2006 Season record of 6-16 in M.I.N.K. league play and an overall season record of 13-23.

Generals Split Series With Mudcats

07/13/06 - OZARK, MO. - The Ozark Generals turned a 8-2 first game loss on Wednesday into an 8-2 win Thursday, splitting the weekday series and the season series with Chillicothe Mudcats.

Ozark's James Parker gets the win in the last home game at Price Cutter Park this season. The Generals (12-19 overall, 5-13 MINK) will be on the road in Clarinda, Iowa for two games against the A's starting Saturday.


Due to a logistics problem, the game against Nevada on Wednesday, July 19th will not be broadcast by WSR. We will have the final games of the season Saturday July 22nd against the Parkville Sluggers live on WebSports Radio starting at 2pm. (See Schedule)

Golden Giants Take Two From Generals

07/07/06 - OZARK, MO. - Ozark took early leads in both games Friday night at Price Cutter Park only to have Topeka come back and beat the Generals 5-3 and 9-4.

In game one, the Generals got on the board first thanks to two Golden Giant errors. After Taylor House singled to right field, Jon Farris got on base thanks to a misplayed bunt, and a Justin Skinner's sacrifice put the runners into scoring position. House scored on a
Matt Stoeklin ground out, and Farris scored thanks to an error on a ball hit by Lawson Hipps.

Ozark had the lead through out the game only to have Topeka tie the scheduled 7 inning game 3-3. Then in the top of the 9th the Giants scored two runs to take the lead. James Parker gets the loss for the Generals, and Austin Todd takes the victory for the Giants.

In game two, the Generals had an early 3-0 lead until the 4th inning. The Golden Giants came back with 9 runs in the 4th and 5th innings. The Generals rallied in the bottom of the 7th, thanks to a sacrifice by Mike Sanchez to knock in Jared Starks, after a single by David Poland put him in scoring position, but were unable to capitalize.

The win in game 2 went to Tim Brown, with Lucas Vestal taking the loss for the Generals.

Ozark will play Saturday at 7pm (central) against the Mid-Missouri Crawdads at Price Cutter Park in Ozark, Missouri.

Joplin Slashes Generals On The Road

07/05/06 - JOPLIN, MO. - Two runs in the second, third, and three in the 4th inning were enough for the Jopin Slashers to get past the Ozark Generals 7-3 at historic Joe Becker Stadium.

The Generals took the lead in the second inning when Jared Starks grounded into a force at second base to bring home Matt Stoeklin who started the inning with a double to center field. Ozark managed two more runs: one in the fifth and one in the sixth inning.

Trevor Harden was the winning pitcher for the Slashers pitching 5 innings and giving up two runs. Jeff Sargent takes the loss for the Generals. He gave up all 7 runs on 12 hits and three errors. Buddy Bauman went 1-2/3 innings but was taken out after he was hit by a line drive back up the middle. Justin Skinner came in in relief going 2-2/3 innings.

The Generals will be home at Price Cutter Park onFriday to play the Topeka Golden Giants in a double header starting at 5pm (central).

Update: SW MO Tournament Of Champions

07/04/06 - NEVADA, MO. - By winning 4 games in a row at the NBC Regional Baseball Tournament over the weekend, the Nevada Griffons (Jayhawk League) grabbed a bid to the National Baseball Congress Tournament at the end of July.

The Ozark lost its opening round game 8-0 putting the Generals in the bottom bracket of the round-robin tournament. With 16-2 win on Sunday, the Generals needed to get by Topeka for a chance to move through the bracket, but lost 6-2. Ozark came back with an 11-1 win Monday to split four game tournament.

The M.I.N.K. leagues' Golden Giants were the runner up with the Southwest Slashers (Jawhawk League) taking third.

Ozark plays at Joplin on Wednesday and the game can be heard live on WebSports Radio starting at 6:5opm with the pre-game show.

Generals Go Into Extra Innings Again Against Grays

06/26/06 - OZARK, MO. - Another extra inning game for the Generals and another loss as Ozark had the Blue Springs Grays score two runs in the top of the 10th to win 11-9. Ozark spent most of the night catching up to the Grays, then tying the game 9-9 in the bottom of the 9th when Justin Skinner doubled in BJ Underkofler.

The Generals trailed early in the first when Blue Springs scored three runs with the Grays scoring 2 more runs through the 8th inning. Chris Matlock takes the loss for the Generals while former General Kyle Ritter gets the win for the Grays.

Ozark will play in the NBC Regional Tournament in Nevada, Missouri this weekend.

Clarinda Takes High Scoring Affair From Generals

06/25/06 - OZARK, MO. - Game two between the Ozark Generals and Clarinda A's, featured 35 runs and two 6-run innings by the Generals, but ended in a 19-16 loss for Ozark Sunday at Price Cutter Park.

Trailing 12-4 in the 7th inning, the Generals put 6 runs on the board and did the same in the 8th to take the lead 16-12. Clarinda came back with 7 runs in the top of the 9th.

A's pitcher Tyler Shady gets the win and Chris Matlock takes the loss for the Generals who fall to 9-9 on the season. Ozark will be home Tuesday with the Blue Springs Grays.

Generals Score Early To Defeat A's, Snap Streak

06/24/06 - OZARK, MO. - Facing one of the MINK leagues top teams, the Clarinda A's, the Generals used a 4-run first inning to defeat the A's by a score of 12-2 .

Ozark used two hits and two hit batsmen to chase A's starting pitcher Andrew Cashner. Landen Camp walked in an RBI after he was hit by a pitch in the first with the bases loaded to start the scoring. Tino Robbins had two RBI's on two hits including his first homerun of the season, carying the ball over the 375 mark to left center field, to give the Generals a 10-2 lead.

Generals starting pitcher Lucas Vestal went the distance giving up just 5 hits and one earned run. "I had to convice Coach Aton to pitch the whole game," said Vestal in the post-game show.

The Generals win snaps its 3 game losing streak while the A's extend their losing streak to two games. Ozark will play the A's Sunday at Price Cutter Park in the second game of the series starting at 1pm central time.

Blue Springs Extends Ozarks' Winless Streak

06/24/06 - OZARK, MO. - Three games. That's the longest losing streak for the Ozark Generals this season after dropping a 8-2 decision to the Blue Springs Grays last night at Price Cutter Park.

Ozark lead 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning after James parker's RBI single knocked in Justin Skinner. Blue Springs came back with seven runs in the top of the 2nd inning started by a 3-run homer by Chris Davis, the first hit out of Price Cutter Park this season, and the third for Davis on the season. Generals pitcher Zach Farmer was pulled in the second after giving up six runs and takes the loss.

Relief pitcher Buddy Bauman gave up two runs to the Grays in the 8th. The second run for the Generals came in the 4th inning when BJ Underkofler singled to right field scoring Parker. Ozark will play Clarinda tonight at 7pm and can be heard live on WebSports Radio starting with the pregame show at 6:5opm central time.

Ozark Swept By Topeka, Up One On Chillicothe

06/18/06 - OZARK, MO. - The start of the Generals road trip this weekend did not go well for one of the top scoring teams in the MINK league. Ozark dropped a double header to the Topeka Golden Giants Friday night by scores of 13-4, and 14-1.

Snapping their longest losing streak of the season (2-games) for the second time, the Generals (8-5) faced Chillicothe and came away with a 5-2 win. The Generals capitalized on four Mudcats errors which lead to two Generals runs in the second inning and one in the third.

The Mudcats, who had its 3-game winning streak snapped, made the game close in the fifth scoring two runs cutting the Generals lead to 3-2. Ozarks' Lucas Vestal pitched 6 innings giving up two runs on six hits in the win.

Jared Starks picks up the save having to pitch the Generals out of potential Mudcats scoring situations. Chillicothe had runners in scoring position during the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings. Game two between the Generals and Mudcats is at 6pm today and can be heard on Mudcats internet radio.

Ozark will be home against the Price Cutter Red Bulls, Tuesday at 7pm at Price Cutter Park.

Ninth Inning Heroics Win Game For Ozark

06/14/06 - OZARK, MO. - Generals Manager Rusty Aton had a decision to make, and it turned out to be the right one, as Ozark (7-3) scored a run in the bottom of the 9th inning to beat the Mid-Missouri Crawdads 4-3 and stop its two game losing streak.

After Tino Robbins reached reached on a single in the ninth with nobody out, and several failed hit and run attempts, Aton gave Robins the green light to steal on his own. He not only reached second on the stolen base, he reached third on a wild throw by catcher Bruce Bax.

With a shallow outfield, James Parker lifted a deep fly ball over the head of right fielder Jim Reenan to bring Robins home. Crawdad pitcher Brian Bax gave up only two hits through the first seven innings, but both of those hits came in the second inning behind two of the three Mid-Missouri errors, giving the Generals a 3-1 lead.

The Crawdads (5-3) battled back with a run in the fifth and one in the eight to tie the game 3-3 before Robins and Parkers' heroics.The Generals will be on the road Friday with the Topeka Golden Giants.

On Saturday and Sunday Ozark will extend their road trip and take on Chillicothe. Those games can be heard on Mudcats internet radio.

Generals Ninth Inning Rally Falls Short

06/13/06 - OZARK, MO. - The Generals dropped their second game in a row, this time a 5-4 decision to the Nevada Griffons. Ozark had the lead until Nevada took it back late in the game. With runners in scoring position, a ninth inning rally was cut short after the Generals batters were struck out to end the game. Ozark (6-3) will play rival Mid-Missouri Wednesday at Price Cutter Park and WSR will have the game for you live starting at 6:50pm with the pre-game show.

Ozark Splits Two With Beatrice On Road

06/11/06 - BEATRICE, NE. - Sunday was a travel day for the Ozark Generals to play two 7-inning games against the Beatrice Bruins. In game one, the Generals used extra innings to beat the Bruins 4-3. Jared Starks gets the win, his first of the season.Game two was a different story, with the Generals losing the night cap 11-2. Right-Handed pitcher Jeff Seargeant gets the loss. The Generals return home to Price Cutter Park Tuesday with a game against the Nevada Griffons.

Ten Run Rule Gives Ozark Second Win Over Cubs

06/10/06 - OZARK, MO. - Generals starting pitcher Zach Farmer threw a two hitter in 7 innings, while the Generals bats came alive to beat the Cubs 11-1 in a game shortened by the 10-run rule.

Both Generals manager Rusty Aton and Cubs manager Chad Harris agreed to the rune prior to the start of the contest. The Generals now travel to Beatrice, Nebraska for two games tomorrow.

Taylor House went 3-3 with a triple and two RBI's to lead the attack for Ozark. Kyle Evans walked in a run, sacrificed a run and scored himself going 1-2. Spencer Mather had two hits in three at bats and scored a run. Justin Skinners 1st inning double accounted for two RBI's to get the Generals scoring started.

Sammy Bartholomew reached on an error in the first and scored the Cubs only run on Brad Staggs RBi double, one of the only two hits given up by Farmer.

Generals Back To Winning Ways

6/09/06 - OZARK, MO. - The Oklahoma Cubs fell victim to the Generals bats Friday night as the Ozark took game one 12-2 at Price Cutter Park. The Generals (4-1) kept the Cubs off the scoreboard until the 8th inning when they scored both runs. Springfield native Ryan Estes picks up the win. Ozark is 1-1 in MINK league play and will finish the home stand with the Cubs Saturday at 1pm (central). Game two of the series will be live on WebSports Radio starting at 12:50pm (central) with the pre-game show.

Strange Play Leads To Generals Loss

6/07/06 - OZARK, MO. - With the tying run on first base and Ozark trailing by one in the bottom of the ninth, a strike out and a picked off runner ended the Generals three game winning streak with a 6-5 loss to the Parkville Sluggers. Jon Farris struck out and Charlie Belote couldn't get back to the bag in time which ended the Generals third attempt to take the lead.

The Generals went up 3-0 in the second inning with five singles in a row. Mike Sanchez, Kyle Evans and Justin Skinner grabbed RBI's. Then Parkville scored two in the 4th inning on a two RBI single by Anthony Dreilling. Parkville grabbed a 5-3 lead the 6th when a hit batter, a walk and an error lead to three runs.

Ozark fought back with one run in the 6th and and tied the game with one in the 8th when Taylor House reached base on his second bunt single of the night. in the eigth inning, Skinner knocked lead-off man Evans in to tie the game at 5-5.

Parkville's Drew Schneiber hit in the winning RBI in the ninth after Dreiling reached on a walk and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Jon Nagel gets the loss after pitching the ninth.

Starter Buddy Bauman was chased after four innings giving up three runs on five hits and walking five batters.The Generals will play the Oklahoma Cubs Friday at Price Cutter Park starting at 7pm (central).

Ozark Beats Parkville To Win Third In A Row

06/06/06 - OZARK, MO. - Despite out scoring it's opponents 40-3 in the last three games, the Ozark Generals had to come from behind against the Parkville Sluggers to earn a 7-2 victory Tuesday night at Price Cutter Park.

Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th with Spencer Mather and Jon Farris on base, Justin Skinner hit a double down the left field line scoring Mather and Farris to put the generals into the lead 3-2.

In the 7th, Matt Stoeklin's two RBI double scored Skinner and Mike Sanchez. Lucas Vestal (2-0) pitched 6 innings for the win, and the first in MINK league play. Jared Starks pitched two innings, and David Poland closed out the ninth. Sluggers pitcher Tim Scott takes the loss.

Generals Second Game Mirrors Longhorns First

06/03/06 - OZARK, MO. - If the opening weekend was any indication, the Ozark Generals are in for a banner year. The Generals completed a two game weekend with a pair of wins, sweeping the Brunswick Longhorns off the diamond by an 18 - 1 count Saturday afternoon. (HEAR ARCHIVED GAME)

The Generals racked up 19 hits to just five for the Longhorns. Mike Sanchez knocked in three runs for the second time in as many games, going one for six with a double and a sacrifice. Taylor House went three for three at the plate with an RBI in the third, while Matt Stoeklin was two for two including a double and an RBI.

In all, 13 different Generals accounted for the hit total as Manager Rusty Aton emptied his bench during the blow out. Only catcher Jesse Cox was able to score for the Longhorns after reaching on a double in the fifth and scoring from second on a wild pitch. Cox also garnered two of the Longhorn’s five hits.

Winning pitcher Buddy Bauman only worked three innings giving up just one hit, while striking out four.

The Generals continue their home stand playing the Mid-Missouri Crawdads in a double header (2-seven inning games) Sunday at Price Cutter Park.

Ozark Bowls Over Brunswick In Home Opener

06/02/06 - OZARK, MO. - The Ozark Generals didn’t have much of a problem starting the 2006 baseball year, rolling over the Brunswick Longhorns 15 - 0 at Price Cutter Park Friday night.

Pitcher Lucas Vestal and his relievers limited the Longhorns to just four hits on the night, while the entire Generals line up got in on the act offensively.

Taylor House opened the season with the first of three doubles in the first inning as Ozark built a 4 - 0 lead and never looked back, racking up 17 hits on Ben Davis and the rest of the overmatched Longhorn pitching staff. Errors also took their toll on Brunswick, as only 11 runs were earned.

The Generals will give the Longhorns a second chance Saturday at 4 pm, in a game that is scheduled to be webcast on WebSports Radio.

Generals Game Time Saturday Changed To 4pm

06/01/06 - OZARK, MO. - Due to a scheduling conflict, the second game of the Ozark Generals season has been changed from 1pm to a 4pm start. The Generals will play the rubber game of two against the Brunswick Longhorns at Price Cutter Park.

The 2006 Generals roster includes six returning players: 2005 starting centerfielder, Taylor House, a Neosho product who recently was named National Junior College Athletic Association Division II, Region 3, Player of the Year while attending Longview Community College. Rejoining House on the Generals is sophomore pitcher, Scott Carroll (Liberty, Mo), from Missouri State, along with LHP Lucas Vestal (Springfield-Parkview HS) from Missouri Southern State University and Zach Farmer (Branson) from Fort Scott Community College.

Players rejoining the Generals are 2005 squad members, Trent Thompson (Nevada, Mo.) from Central Missouri State University, and Ryan Estes (Ozark HS) who pitched this past spring at Evangel University.Nine of the 16 players from around the United States, include: B.J. Undercoffer, a catcher from Helena, Montana; Charlie Belote, 1B/DH from Gattlin, Tenn; Matt Stoeklen, 1B/DH form Denver, Colorado; infielder Landon Camp from Edmond, Oklahoma, and outfielder David Mann from Albuquerque, N.M., both coming from 2005 NAIA World Series Champs, Oklahoma City University.

Additional players on the roster include outfielder Mike Sanchez from Chino Valley, Az , pitcher James Parker, from Lebanon, Tenn.; and pitcher, Jared Starks, from Stillwater, Ok. The coaching staff consists of fourth year coach, Rusty Aton, and second year assistant coach, Don Ervin. The pair will be joined on the coaching staff by two former Generals players, 2003 second baseman, Brent Lavioe, and 2004-05 outfielder, Bill Mulholland.

Generals Webcast Schedule Set, Begins June 3rd

05/10/06 - OZARK, MO. - The webcast schedule for the 2006 Ozark Generals Baseball team has been finalized. WSR's first webcast will be June 3rd when the Generals host the Brunswick Longhorns. (See WSR Schedule)

Due to the non-availability of broadcast facilities at some ball parks and schedule conflicts, WebSports Radio will air 7 games this season. An additional game could be added to the schedule at a later date.

Schedule changes include the Longhorns playing June 3rd on a date originally held by the Topeka Riverdogs, who according to Generals management, are not playing in the league this year.

Added to the WSR webcast schedule is a game against the Oklahoma Cubs at Price Cutter Park on Saturday, June 10th.
